portrait period 5

This picture has Abby, and a stool. Abby is wearing a simple dark colored shirt and a watch that was rainbow, and earrings. She is in a simple pose that represents part of her background. I cut off the end of the stool so it wouldn't look like an ugly stool and wouldn't distract from her face and her watch.

The lighting in this picture is a bit off, which is a shame because that's what this project was all about.
When i set up the lights, the lighting was perfect, but during the shoot i had her move a lot and had different props and positions introduced and it cause her face to be turned away from the light and be too close to the hot light that was lighting the background. The shadows on her face help show she is young and the blacks and whites are in good balance. The picture is in focus, and it was meant to be that way.

This picture was taken inside with the hot lights on the seamless. This pose was chosen because of her strong religious background and influences in her life. The model was free to do what she wanted for this shoot.

I really like this picture. i took a lot of pictures of her in a lot of different poses and i think this is the one that shows her the most. the side of her that you might not think when looking at her, and thats the whole point of a portrait. it took me a while to get the right blacks and white when i was trying to print this picture, so just the effort that went into it makes me love this picture. while it was being printed and was going into the final wash, it got a scratch on the black that's very obvious and takes away from the picture, and i would change that.

over all i think that this was successful, although the lighting is a bit off, and you cant see both sides of her face. but you can recognize who it is, and it shows her well.
