portrait period 5

This picture has Abby, and a stool. Abby is wearing a simple dark colored shirt and a watch that was rainbow, and earrings. She is in a simple pose that represents part of her background. I cut off the end of the stool so it wouldn't look like an ugly stool and wouldn't distract from her face and her watch.

The lighting in this picture is a bit off, which is a shame because that's what this project was all about.
When i set up the lights, the lighting was perfect, but during the shoot i had her move a lot and had different props and positions introduced and it cause her face to be turned away from the light and be too close to the hot light that was lighting the background. The shadows on her face help show she is young and the blacks and whites are in good balance. The picture is in focus, and it was meant to be that way.

This picture was taken inside with the hot lights on the seamless. This pose was chosen because of her strong religious background and influences in her life. The model was free to do what she wanted for this shoot.

I really like this picture. i took a lot of pictures of her in a lot of different poses and i think this is the one that shows her the most. the side of her that you might not think when looking at her, and thats the whole point of a portrait. it took me a while to get the right blacks and white when i was trying to print this picture, so just the effort that went into it makes me love this picture. while it was being printed and was going into the final wash, it got a scratch on the black that's very obvious and takes away from the picture, and i would change that.

over all i think that this was successful, although the lighting is a bit off, and you cant see both sides of her face. but you can recognize who it is, and it shows her well.

fright night

this is a back drop painting for fright night 2010. i painted the words "fright night", did the grey spider webs in both left corners, did the tombstones and the rat, and the bat. i painted with chloe and tashia. this took us one class period.

i think the colors work together nicely, it just needed to be halloween themed, a background for pictures. the composition is fine in this because it wasnt meant to be seen as a whole.... people are meant to stand in front of it. i think we did a good idea capturing things that are halloween related.

we used tempra paint. and this picture was taken inside with  the lighting that was already there.

walkie talkie

this picture is part of a series of the little green army men that come in the green tubs. this is the army man with the walkie talkie. i used a cell phone and was going to do photo shop, but decided later that the idea i had for them wouldnt work because of time. in this picture i used the stobe light, and the white seamless. i had my model wear an authentic army outfit from the army surplus store.

my model behaved really well, and it took almost no dicrection to get the pcitures i wanted. i really like this series of pictures, because it was really simple and looks really nice.

combat crawl

this is part of the green army man series, this is the army man that combat crawls. like the other pictures this was shot with strobe and the seamless. this picture also took very little direction. same clothes were used in the first one. this is exactly the possition i wanted.

attention

this is another one of the green army guys. this picture was good, but i later found out that they have an open leg stance when they are in this pose, but other than that this picture is perfect as well. i used the same strobe lighting with the seamless. same clothes as before.

classic chloe princess

this is a picture of chloe... its almost like a portriat. it took a lot of convincing to get her to do this. i used the strobe light and the seamless. it was hard to grab her attention and keep her focused on the camera. i wish i had been able to make her feel more comfotable in a picture like this, but her awkwardness makes the pciture stand out. sher is sitting on a black stool in this picture.

she has on a prom dress, purple fresh water pearls, her braclets, and makeup... as well as jeans and tennis shoes (that you cant see in this picture)

the princess in tennis shoes

this is chloe in a prom dress, pearls, makeup, JEANS AND TENNIS SHOES!!!!! she refused to take off any of her bottoms and barely got in the dress. i used strobe light and the seamless for this picture. i asked her to sit down on the gound in a way that would compliment the dress, and this is the transition of that.

questioning chloe

chloe's reaction to me asking her to sit on the stool that i placed on the seamless. as you can see the prom dress doesnt fit her right because she is too tall and is wearing jeans with a belt and tennis shoes underneath. i used strobe lighting inside for this picture.

i think this picture really captures who chloe is, even though what you can see of her outfit really doesnt. i love the body language she is giving off in this picture, it doesnt fit at all with what i told her the photo shoot was going to be about. she brought her own awkward style.

close up chloe in leather

i asked chloe to lay down and look straight at the camera. i got this picture just as she was opening her eyes from blinking. i love the way the strobe flashe in her eyes, it gives them a lot of life. this was her rebelious look, that also doesnt match with who she really is, though she prefered this photo shoot out of all of them, including the one of her in regular clothes. it took a lot of convincing to get her to wear the makeup and let her hair down, but pictures like this make it worth the battle.

chloe talking

chloe was caught in midsentance in the picture. i think this shows who she is dispite the clothes and makeup. she is always so animated and im glad i was able to capture that. once again, i love the way her eyes light up by the strobe. accidents are best.

chloe standing

a simple, almost portriat-like picture of chloe. her in the rebelious look. my leather jacket, her black pants and shirt. it always takes a lot to get her to let her hair down and get makeup on. this picture was taken on the seamless with strobe. the only thing i dont like about this picture is the color of her shoes, but that can be fixed with photoshop.

over all she was a really hard model to work with, but there were a few really rewarding pictures.
